About Lake Fork
Lake Fork is located 75 miles east of
Dallas on Lake Fork Creek, a tributary of the Sabine
river. It was impounded in 1980 and completed filling in 1985.
Lake Fork covers 27,700 surface acres. The current state record largemouth
bass (18.18 pounds) was caught from
Lake Fork in 1992.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
began stocking the reservoir with Florida largemouth bass in 1978.
Of the 50 largest bass on record for the state of
Texas, 34 (all of the top 6) are from Lake Fork. Number 12 on the list was caught from
Lake Fork in February of 1999.
